The Mid-Autumn festival is a truly special occasion when we celebrate under the full moon the fruits of our labor. Likewise, at Pixel Perfect, we celebrated the blessings we harvested in this 2024 Mid-Autumn Festival with two friendly competitions.
The Fruit Crafting Competition – The Pomelo Puppy
Decorative items play a good role in our culture. And so, our first competition involved making a decorative puppy out of pomelo and some other fruits – the floor with the better one would win, of course. This tradition has been around for a really long time but very few people know, almost to a point of being esoteric with no legit documentation.
This dog would represent protection and loyalty, bringing members of a community closer. So, you can see that our dear superiors did not just want us to have some fun time while getting out of our comfort zone by doing things we never had done, we were also expected to experience the warmth and the fun of joining hands while trying to bring home the trophy.
The Decoration Competition
And that leads us to the main competition – the floor with the most impressive makeover, within the budget of 500.000 VND, would win the grand prize to party with each other.
We were encouraged to use materials already available but in the most creative way possible. Without saying, this was a wonderful practice of boosting us employees’ creativity, collaboration, and dedication in a way that didn’t bore us with lectures and training sessions. Hats off to our brilliant board of directors!
And that wasn’t everything. Almost everyone these days owns a smartphone and knows how to take good photos with it. And so, these subtle skills were put to great use when we tried to take the most spectacular and eye-catching photos of our decoration to submit for the final consideration. In short, we had a great time
Our Accomplishments
See for yourself the photos of our accomplishments born out of sheer hard work and team collaboration. We poured our creativity and passion into each detail and below are the results. As you can see, once we set our minds to do it, there’s nothing we cannot accomplish.
The Ground Floor
The Ground Floor chose a steady approach with cheap materials that could be brought from home. The decoration was more diverse and improvised.
The theme of the Ground Floor was the Mid-Autumn night sky, aiming to create a serene atmosphere within the working environment.
Here is the pomelo puppy made by the whole ground floor team. No one was familiar with the art of handcraft, and yet the whole team learned how to do it within 2 hours! The final result got a signature touch as a pair of glasses.
The Upper Floor
The Upper Floor chose a more robust, dynamic approach, where all members joined hands to create an eye-catching background where anyone could have an awesome photo of their own to share on their social media.
The theme was a Mid-Autumn feast, which was translated into very common traditional store-bought ornaments, as well as handmade decorative items made from materials that can be found within our office.
Here is the pomelo puppy as presented by the Upper Floor team, where it was mostly made by very skillful employees who had a lot of experience in handicrafts.
The Winners & The Prizes
On the 15th of the Lunar August, our bosses examined each story’s results and presentation, weighing carefully each floor’s creativity, team collaboration, and dedication. A fair judgment was made, and below are the picks of our dear directors.
The Pomelo Puppy Prize
Both pomelo puppies were adorable, and our bosses really had a hard time deciding who the winner was. But the prize could only be given to one team, and that was the Upper Floor, whose puppy was more structured and well-crafted.
The Decoration Prize
Our beloved bosses were over the moon to see the amount of dedication we each put into our work. But both of our directors were simultaneously impressed by the diversity and the creativity that the Ground Floor team had put into creating a wonderful Mid-Autumn night sky atmosphere. And so, the grand prize was given to the Ground Floor team!
The Greatest Prize
We are just a bunch of office workers, with very few of us knowing how to do all this decoration work. But that was also what brought us together. Because if one person couldn’t it, then the whole team could maybe accomplish it. The greatest prize wasn’t just the money we got to celebrate our victories, it was also the unforgettable moments of teamwork and collaboration, pushing our limits for creativity and sharing laughter.
